Get involved in APS Mentoring
Studying physics is both rewarding and challenging, and both students and early-career physicists can benefit from the guidance of an experienced mentor. For physicists established in their career, guiding the next generation of scientists can be equally rewarding.
We offer a variety of programs to connect students with experienced, passionate mentors across the many disciplines of physics.
Industry Mentoring for Physicists
The Industry Mentoring for Physicists (IMPact) program connects students and early-career physicists from any country with industrial physicists worldwide for career guidance.
National Mentoring Community
The National Mentoring Community envisions a future in which no one is marginalized or minoritized in physics on the basis of race or ethnicity. To achieve this, the NMC prioritizes mentoring, professional development opportunities, and access to resources for Black/African, Latinx, and Indigenous physics students.
Career Mentoring Fellows
APS Career Mentoring Fellows are physicists across all work sectors, in every area of the field, who are interested in forging a stronger connection with the physics community through mentoring undergraduates, and learning and teaching about diverse career options in physics.
